Follow these steps to prepare for now & for the future.

  • Ways to Medicaid:

    1. Apply for Social Security SSI (Supplemental Security Income).
    2. If your income exceeds SSI limits, apply for Medicaid Buy-In.
  • Ways to Personal/attendant care:
    1. Click on Interest lists and get on the CLASS, MDCP, & HCS Interest lists.
    2. If you are already on Medicaid and under 21 years, request Personal Care Services.
    3. If your child is medically-fragile, you may be able to skip the MDCP Interest list by requesting Rider 28.
    4. If you are over 21 years & have a nursing need, contact CBA/Star-Plus to request long-term care services. (No interest list available for CBA/Star-Plus.)
    5. If you child has an IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disability) that is putting them at risk for needing care in a state school, the local authority may be able to place them on Texas Home Living. (No interest list available for TxHML.)
