Follow these steps to prepare for now & for the future.
- Ways to Medicaid:
- Apply for Social Security SSI (Supplemental Security Income).
- If your income exceeds SSI limits, apply for Medicaid Buy-In.
- Ways to Personal/attendant care:
- Click on Interest lists and get on the CLASS, MDCP, & HCS Interest lists.
- If you are already on Medicaid and under 21 years, request Personal Care Services.
- If your child is medically-fragile, you may be able to skip the MDCP Interest list by requesting Rider 28.
- If you are over 21 years & have a nursing need, contact CBA/Star-Plus to request long-term care services. (No interest list available for CBA/Star-Plus.)
- If you child has an IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disability) that is putting them at risk for needing care in a state school, the local authority may be able to place them on Texas Home Living. (No interest list available for TxHML.)
